After graduating from Loughborough University with a degree in Architectural Engineering, Tom hit the road of entrepreneurship. Former ventures included making and selling homemade fudge (with two friends also named Tom, Tom's Fudge), ecommerce consultancy for small businesses, plus crafting self-assembly furniture kits to be sold online. Plank Hardware was born after Tom moved into his first home with now-wife and fellow Co-founder, Annie. Short of cash, they turned to making bespoke furniture from reclaimed planks of wood. It was when tackling these projects that the pair struggled to find trend-informed hardware components at a good quality, for a fair price. The rest is history.

Based in London, its design team develops stylish hardware products in high quality materials, manufactured responsibly with international supply partners. The company's mission is to inspire a generation of kick-ass DIYers. Easy-to-install hardware pieces are designed with creative home projects in mind; furniture upcycling, flat-pack hacking and refreshing kitchen cabinets that have seen better days.
