BA Design Crafts, De Montfort University 2021
Together with her partner, potter Jacob Chan, Rosie has been taking part in the Golden Earth project, and has been sculpting from clay rescued from a building site. In general terms,
Rosie’s ceramics (“Plastic Species”) are imagined “fossils of the future” whose delicate forms contain streaks of discarded plastic deadly for marine life, as are the “ghost” fishing nets lost at sea and heavier twists of abandoned ropes. They are a delicate, poetic vision, a beautifully crafted eco-warning. Rosie has collected broken rock, sand and plastic for her work from extensive walks around the British coasts. “I am exploring materials all the while, combining clay bodies with both found and man-made objects.” Rosie’s ceramics are for sale and she is available for commission.
