Lawrence Parent
BSc Product Design, University of Brighton 2020
Lawrence is passionately committed to sustainability and has been taking part in the Golden Earth Studio project. Bio-receptive surfaces are his special area of expertise. Currently, cities are built with clean, smooth, regular-shaped surfaces and spaces, with little focus on natural life. So Lawrence invented Living Blocks that mimic natural stone, thus harbouring vegetation and wild life to soften harsh urban landscapes, which you can make them yourself from an “open source” (i.e. freely accessible to all) recipe on his website for modifying simple moulds with balloons and discarded fruit and veg. Lawrence is now looking to 3D print his designs. He has set up Wild Structures, a design studio to expand his ideas for bio-receptive surfaces for cities; he is also selling his plant containers.
