Kate Sheehan
Kate Sheehan is a highly respected occupational therapists with 39 years of clinical experience, her specialist area of practice is accessible housing design, where she champions the importance of understanding the meaning of home for each individual and the significant impact poorly designed environments can have on a client ‘swell-being.
Kate has been an active member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists using her platform to build strong links with government and advocate for the value of occupational therapy in housing and the wider built environment.
She co-authored the Wheelchair Housing Design Guide for the Centre for Accessible Environments, published in March 2018, and served as a peer reviewer for the Inclusive Design Guide 2024.
Kate was awarded a Fellowship by the RCOT in 2022 in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the profession, followed by an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Worcester in 2023 for her significant contribution to the field of occupational therapy.
