Kate Sheehan
KS Occupational Therapy
Kate graduated from the Derby School of Occupational Therapy in 1987. I am one of the Directors of The Occupational Therapy Service, which provides Occupational Therapy to case managers, local authorities, training and consultancy services to the commercial sector. Her specialist area of practice is accessible housing design, championing the need to understand the meaning of home to an individual and how poorly designed modifications can have a significant impact on the well-being of clients.
Kate is the consultant occupational therapist for the Stannah Group.
To this day she continue to work with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government on the development of an accessible built environment and co-authored the Wheelchair Housing Design Guide and she was involved in the newly funded research project into wheelchair space standards to inform the revised Part M of the Building Regulations.
Kate was awarded a Fellowship from the Royal College of Occupational Therapists in 2022 and an honorary Fellowship from Worcester University for her outstanding contribution to the field of occupational therapy.
