Coffee Logs by Logs Direct are eco briquettes made from recycled coffee grounds collected from coffee shops.

Smith & Fong’s Durapalm is an alternative to bamboo flooring that is available as plywood, panelling, veneer and lumber.

Durapalm is made from plantation-grown coconut or sugar palm trees that are past their fruit-bearing years. The plywood version is made from reclaimed palms. Durapalm contains no added formaldehyde. http://www.durapalm.com/

Egloo

Egloo is a non-electrical heater that warms a room using candles. The Egloo is 3D printed and consists of a double dome with the inner dome heating up quickly to radiate heat to the outer dome.

The brains behind the design claim it takes five minutes to reach the highest temperature and that four candles will last long enough to heat a 20 square-metre space for up to five hours. http://eglooinfo.it/

Ecovative Design

Ecovative Design has developed MycoFoam, an alternative to product to the plastic foam used in protective packaging.

HuskeeCup is a reusable, recyclable cup that, its manufacturers claim, offers the first economically viable and sustainable solution to the disposal of discarded coffee husk.

Coffee husk is an organic waste material produced at the milling stage of coffee production. At the end of the harvest, coffee farmers can be left with tonnes of husk and no viable way of disposing of it. https://www.huskee.co/

Pinatex

Pinatex by Ananas Anam is a sustainable alternative to leather and polluting synthetic materials. It is made from pineapple leaf fibres.

As a by-product of the pineapple harvest, the raw material needs no additional land, water, fertiliser or pesticide to produce and making use of it provides extra income to pineapple farmers.

Claire Potter Design researches waste marine plastics and what can be made from them. It examines our relationship with plastic to create value from its waste.

Its The Smack LED light design is made from 365 plastic sport drinks bottle recovered during beach cleaning operations. The bottles undergo seven separation and reprocessing steps to make the materials pure and suitable for use in lighting. http://www.clairepotterdesign.com/
