Tide set by Lily Hitchcock Design
I designed The Tide Set in response to the growing number of people who are working from home. The set is inspired by the sea and replicates its meditative characteristics to create a place where a user can take a break and detach from everyday life. The set is made using sustainably sourced ash and quilted cotton components. Both pieces can be disassembled as they use socket screws. The chair also features an element inspired by an ocean drum that slots into the base of the chair so that the sound of the sea is created as it rocks.
Company description: I am an innovative and conscientious designer with an ambition to create mindful designs that make a positive difference to a user and their environment. Sustainable practices in professional and everyday life are a core value of my work as a maker. I work with a range of materials, experimenting and advancing my knowledge to create unique pieces with purpose. I create bespoke or batch produced pieces of high quality, built to last and be appreciated by the user. With my pieces I aim to encourage attachment between the client and the piece, encouraging a slow consumption attitude by creating a piece that has a timeless design. I also enjoy trying new skills and testing out new materials. I like to experiment and see how these different materials and processes work together and cross over to create new possibilities. I am open to learning new skills and developing a wider skillset.
