What is it?
The Everyday Veggie Collection by Mr Mostacchio is a playful, vegetable-inspired tableware collection featuring a White Radish Cutlery Holder with stainless steel cutlery, a Carrot Chopstick Holder with maple chopsticks and a pair of Beetroot Salt & Pepper Shakers.
Designed to be both functional and characterful, the collection turns familiar everyday objects into pieces people will want to use, display and keep.
Why is it a Green Hero?The Everyday Veggie Collection tackles sustainability from a different perspective: what if we simply kept the things we bought for longer?
Rather than following short-lived trends, the collection uses playful forms, tactility and storytelling to create an emotional connection between people and their possessions. By designing objects that owners genuinely want to care for and keep, Mr Mostacchio aims to extend their lifespan and challenge disposable culture.
The vegetable forms are made using Jesmonite, a water-based, low-VOC composite material, while 18/10 stainless steel and maple wood have been chosen for the accompanying cutlery and chopsticks with durability and longevity in mind.
Each piece has also been designed for a second life, transitioning from functional tableware into a decorative home object rather than simply being discarded when its original use comes to an end.
The Story Behind ItCreated particularly with young adults establishing their first homes in mind, the collection explores how narrative and personality can encourage a more mindful relationship with everyday objects.
Instead of sustainability being solely about what something is made from, Mr Mostacchio considers how design itself can influence behaviour, creating products that people form an attachment to and are therefore less likely to replace.
