Cloud-like shades of carded wool waste
Amber is appalled by the low price farmers now get for their fleece: on some farms it is less than the cost of shearing it. “As a result some farmers are burning this abundant, natural and compostable material. We need to start using it again.” Amber’s Floc collection re-evaluates wool as a material resource, by creating ethereal cloud-like lampshades in wool (before it becomes fibre) processed by a hand-spinner in Sheffield and coloured with natural dyes. “We are so used to seeing wool in woven or knitted forms. I am showing its versatility by highlighting an early process.”
