Old duvets for insulating blinds
Adele is a tireless activist. She hates waste and is transforming discarded duvets into much-needed insulating window blinds. “My local tip sees about 20-30 duvets chucked away each day.” Hotel groups could also be a big source. Adele campaigns vigorously against fast fashion, and to make a dramatic statement against its use of oil, has melted synthetic garments into a horrible black plastic material resembling so-called plastiglomerate. “It shows our anthropogenic impact on our planet,” Adele says. She has also stitched metre-wide “doughnuts” from recycled discarded fabrics, inspired by economist Kate Raworth’s Doughnut theory, which proposes an ecological ceiling beneath which we must live. “Put your head in the hole and be at the centre of the issue.” Adele is a committed supporter of the Changing Markets Foundation.
