The design approach adopts a simple and contemporary style, featuring a flat roof and a horizontal emphasis that contrasts with the existing pitched roof. The proportions of the extension are in harmony with the overall elevations of the house.

A sleek, thin-profile canopy extends to provide solar shading for the south aspect and covers the terrace, contributing to the modernist aesthetic that complements the 1930s era of the existing house. Full-height glass windows and sliding doors offer panoramic views and allow ample natural light to flow into the interior, which was lacking in the previous window design. The sliding doors and level threshold seamlessly connect the garden and the interior living space.

Additionally, the design introduces a new front entrance that replaces the existing pitched roof canopy above the entrance door and garage doors. The new entrance features a projecting flat roof canopy, designed to harmonize with the modern style of the approved rear and side extension. The front entrance is enhanced by a new enlarged door with glazed side panels, and the front of the garages is clad in metal to create a cohesive external surface.

The existing terrace is remodelled to align with the lines of the extension and symmetrically extended to the sides, maintaining proportionality with the projecting element of the existing house on the west elevation. The canopy extends equally on all sides and is proportionate to the terrace on the west and east sides.

The material palette is kept simple, utilizing metal cladding for the canopy and the flat roof parapet of the extension. The window frames are finely proportioned, contributing to an elegant appearance.

The proposal included the replacement of all windows with new powder-coated aluminium frames. The design follows a contemporary approach to the glazing, employing a simple form with a central mullion.

Furthermore, the proposal included amending the garage doors by applying a matching metal cladding, creating a uniform external surface and concealing the doors.

To enhance the aesthetic appeal during evenings and nights, the rear extension and new main entrance incorporate subtle spotlighting.

Overall, the design aims to create a harmonious and stylish extension that seamlessly connects the interior and exterior spaces while respecting the architectural character of the existing house.
