We were tasked with devising a strategy to ensure the long-term prosperity and resilience of a small estate together with the nearby village pub, which the client also owns, within the South Downs National Park. Working closely with innovative planning consultants, we devised development plans for the estate which will cement its legacy for the foreseeable future.

The proposals involved extensive diversification measures including overnight accommodation to provide revenue and a base for people to stay and explore the estate or the wider surrounding area. We also proposed the introduction of wellness practices, woodland saunas and cold plunge pools, forest bathing, and outdoor foraging and cooking experiences, all utilising the site’s natural environment to create emotionally resonant experiences for visitors and guests. All of this infrastructure will support and contribute to the long-term operation of the pub and re-establish it as the heart of the community.
