A remodelling of a typical suburban inter-war semi detached house.
The house maximises the permitted volumes to allow a significantly improved plot ratio to create a more sustainable suburban density for family living and home working.
A steel frame is inserted to act both as a transfer structure to permit a first floor addition to hover over a wide glass opening and a cantilever structure to allow the rear facade to float above a new rear excavated terrace.

The colour of powder coated aluminium cladding takes its cue from the typical suburban palette but through the change of scale, consistent detailing and its sculptural form creates a contemporary new identity to the house.
The house is extended at the rear and side and roof level. The thermal efficiency of the house is significantly upgraded to allow solar panels for efficient renewable energy.
