This project involved the complete replacement of an existing oak conservatory with a new bespoke orangery, designed to create a more usable, thermally efficient and visually cohesive extension to the home.

The new structure was manufactured from Sapele hardwood, chosen for its durability, stability and suitability for high-quality external joinery. All timber components were factory finished to achieve a consistent, long-lasting painted finish and a refined appearance throughout.

A key objective of the design was to create a stronger connection between the kitchen, living space and garden. Large bi-folding doors open the orangery directly onto the terrace, allowing the space to feel open and connected during the warmer months, while the carefully considered glazing and insulation ensure it remains comfortable throughout the year.

The roof incorporates a Sarnafil flat-roof system, providing a clean contemporary finish together with the reassurance of a 10-year guarantee. A glazed roof lantern introduces natural light from above, while solar-control glazing helps reduce excessive solar gain and improves comfort during periods of strong sunshine.

Internally, the orangery forms part of an open-plan kitchen and living environment, creating a bright, relaxed space that works equally well for everyday family life and entertaining.

The design was also developed to make the most of the property’s elevated position. The generous glazing and wide opening doors frame long-distance views across the Warwickshire countryside, giving the orangery a strong sense of connection to its setting.

The result is a modern, highly functional replacement for the original conservatory, combining traditional hardwood craftsmanship with contemporary detailing, improved performance and a far stronger relationship between the home, garden and surrounding landscape.
