The Brief

Our clients came to us looking for a floor to work with their busy lifestyles. They were building a new home in the muddy countryside with kids, and dogs. Firstly, they wanted organic materials to create a cosy and inviting atmosphere throughout their open-plan house design. Secondly, the flooring needed to be durable and hardwearing. Thirdly, the colour tones had to suit their planned Dutch Barn-style home. Finally, we found the perfect combination. The Highland Grey natural stone floor, plus our engineered oak for the bedroom delivered everything they wanted and needed.

The Project

Similarly to most building projects where we are installing the floor. We worked closely with our customers from the planning to fitting stages. Therefore, when the plans changed to add a larger extension we were there to help. As a result, Richard guided our clients through the process. For example, the shape of the building meant there was a lot of discussion on which direction to lay the stone. During the process, Richard was on hand. Helping them to choose mixed widths of 50 and 60cm wide stones to reduce repetition and break up large areas. Additionally, this created a flow throughout the home joining all areas in cohesion.

The Stone

Available in many sizes it is a versatile and durable limestone suitable for any home. Our traditional mixed widths have a perfect period property aesthetic or are ideal for breaking up large open-plan areas. Alternatively, you can choose our large format 90 x 90cm grey natural stone flooring tiles to create a more modern, contemporary look.

The Engineered Oak

We keep a wide range of engineered oak in stock to suit every home. Our clients chose a wide single width oak in a natural hard wax oil finish, because it has a warm and soft feel for the bedroom.
