The Project Brief

Our clients at Bridge Cottage, a heritage and listed country home in the heart of Herefordshire, were looking for the perfect floor to harmonise with their charming yet evolving home. As a result, they needed a natural stone floor tile that complemented the historic character of their cottage while suiting a sleek, modern kitchen. Durability was another key consideration: as enthusiastic hosts living in the countryside, their floor needed to withstand muddy boots, paw prints, and lively gatherings of family and friends.

Height restrictions were also a challenge. However, the Old Tuscany limestone tiles, with their low-profile thickness and bespoke triple finishes, ticked every box—bringing warmth, character, and practicality to their space without compromising headroom.

The Project

Initially, we sent hand-picked samples to our customers. Secondly, once they had narrowed down their choice to a few stones we arranged a home visit.

Richard, one of our dedicated consultants, visited Bridge Cottage to understand the home’s unique layout and architectural details. Armed with full-size samples of our limestone tiles, he worked closely with the clients to ensure each room’s lighting and features enhanced the chosen flooring.

The Old Tuscany which mimics a traditional French limestone or reclaimed flagstone floor was the ideal match, offering a blend of finishes that brought texture and authenticity:

Richard also advised on the best direction to lay the stone to create flow throughout the home. By aligning the tiles to draw attention to the cottage’s original fireplace, the layout felt both cohesive and intentional.

As with many renovations, the project timeline shifted due to builder delays. Thanks to our in-house flooring installation team, we accommodated changes, reducing stress for the self-managed project.
