Insect Screens for Sliding Doors Transform Modern Hertfordshire Home

In the peaceful Hertfordshire countryside near Broxbourne, a stylish contemporary home has been fitted with bespoke insect screens for sliding doors, blending functionality with refined design. The homeowners turned to Phantom Screens to stop the relentless insects entering through large glazed openings – without compromising natural light, garden views, or interior aesthetics.

A smart solution for expansive glass doors

The homeowners needed an elegant and effective way to manage airflow and keep insects out – particularly in two areas of the home:

  • An open-plan kitchen and living area with wide sliding doors opening out to a beautiful landscaped garden.
  • A glazed corridor connecting the main house to a modern kitchen extension, featuring floor-to-ceiling sliding doors on both sides.

These large glass expanses brought in natural light and countryside views but left the home vulnerable to insect ingress – especially in warmer months.

Following an initial enquiry, Phantom Screens’ team provided expert guidance on screen options, colour matching, and mesh types. A home survey was arranged to take precise measurements and ensure a perfect fit.

Power screens for sliding doors

Two Executive power screens were installed externally, with bespoke subframes mounted to existing mullions. Designed to retract completely when not in use, the screens’ insect mesh stops bugs while maintaining airflow and visibility. The screens are operated via remote or wall switch and integrate with the home’s smart automation system.

Distinction manual screens

Inside the kitchen, pleated manual insect screens were fitted to sliding doors. Their soft-close operation, ultra-low-profile rails, and minimalist housings make them an ideal solution for everyday use, blending subtly with the home’s interior finishes.

Insect protection without compromise

The combination of automated and manual insect screens for sliding doors has elevated this contemporary countryside home:

  • Fresh air, bug-free: With screens in place, the homeowners can open doors freely without worrying about flies, mosquitoes, or midges entering the home.
  • Uninterrupted garden views: Fine mesh preserves outdoor visibility and allows the natural surroundings to remain part of the living space.
  • Discreet design: Screens were carefully colour-matched in RAL 7043 matt, ensuring they feel like an integrated part of the home’s architecture.
  • Effortless usability: From smart automation to soft-close manual operation, every detail supports a lifestyle of convenience and comfort.

Whether you’re renovating a modern home or looking to enhance your indoor-outdoor connection, Phantom’s insect screens for sliding doors offer a perfect balance of design and practicality.
