Outdoor Living

Everything tastes better al fresco, everyone loves to eat outside and we very much enjoy this treat on holiday and during the warmer months of the UK. Taking things one stage further, outdoor kitchens are the new luxury must have, gaining in popularity over the last year or so.

The introduction of outdoor heating has contributed to this trend, allowing kitchen designers to create fantastic outdoor kitchens, where UK homeowners can maximise the time and months of the year that they can cook, dine and entertain in their outdoor spaces. A fully specified outdoor kitchen can include not only a built-in or freestanding BBQ but also module burners for creating sauces, outdoor refrigeration for drinks, snacks and ingredients, plus warming drawers to keep food warm until you are ready to serve it.

While a fully designed, all singing all dancing outdoor kitchen is lovely, not everyone has the space for this luxury and stand alone gas BBQ’s offer a great way of outdoor cooking and entertaining.

Once you have decided on your outdoor appliances and they have been delivered and ready to go, it’s now time to let your imagination run wild in terms of what you would like to cook. It’s not just burgers and steaks that work well but anything from whole chickens, ribs, fish, vegetables such as peppers and onions and even pizzas. Try grilling pineapple or peaches for dessert, the options are endless.

Look for a BBQ that offers a rotisserie, great for whole chickens and larger joints of meat.

Smoke chips are a great way to add additional flavour to your outdoor cooking from oak, apple, cherry wood or birch. Some gas BBQs include a special section for you to place your woodchips keeping them safely tucked away from your food, while conveniently enhancing the flavour during cooking.
