04 May 2022
A stone that you may not find on your door step in the UK, but is available across the tropics worldwise - Laterite. A light, and porous stone that is often found close to the earth's surface and can be cut with hand tools, laterite hardens into stone after curing in the air and becomes a wonderful masonry material that can be made without generating CO2 emissions. See how humanitarian architecture charity, Article 25, has used this stone in the condtruction of a school project in Niger, and learn more about this sustainable construction material.
