When Duncan set out to build one of the UK's first Passive House Premium homes, the roof became the defining feature of the project.

A Passive House Premium home must not only achieve exceptional levels of insulation, airtightness and energy efficiency, but also generate four times more energy than it consumes. To achieve this, Duncan needed a roofing solution that combined outstanding performance with a premium architectural finish.

After struggling to find the right product in the UK, he partnered with Roofit.Solar, whose integrated solar roof system became the key to achieving the project's ambitious sustainability goals.

An Innovative Solar Roof

The home's complex six-sided roof was designed to maximise energy generation while complementing its contemporary architecture. Roofit.Solar supplied and installed around 300 integrated solar panels, connected by more than 1 kilometre of cabling, making it one of the company's largest projects and its first installation in the UK. Unlike traditional solar panels, Roofit.Solar's system is built directly into the roof, creating a sleek finish without compromising performance.
 

Exceptional Energy Performance

The completed home acts as a miniature power station. On a sunny summer's day, it is expected to generate enough electricity to supply more than half of the local village.

On a typical sunny day, the roof produces around 230 kWh of electricity. By comparison, the average medium-sized UK home uses approximately 8 kWh per day, highlighting the impressive output of the integrated solar roof.
