Eco Home Insulation & how they delivered a whole-house retrofit for social housing
Eco Home Insulation was proud to support Mosscare St Vincent's (MSV) Housing on the delivery of the Cosy Home Pilot Project in Rusholme, Manchester. The project involved the complete retrofit of a pre-war, solid-wall terraced property, representative of a significant proportion of local authority housing stock.
Appointed as the insulation contractor, Eco Home Insulation designed and installed a high-performance Internal Wall Insulation (IWI) system to address heat loss in this traditionally hard-to-treat property type. The installation was carefully coordinated alongside a range of complementary retrofit measures, including solar PV with battery storage, an air source heat pump, and new high-efficiency windows and doors.
Project outcomes
As a result of this whole-house approach, the property achieved an EPC A rating. Energy usage and household bills will now be monitored over a two-year period to provide robust performance data, helping to demonstrate the effectiveness of the retrofit measures.
The project highlights a scalable and compliant approach to improving the energy performance of solid-wall homes while supporting wider objectives to reduce fuel poverty and contribute towards net zero targets.
Working in Partnership
Delivered in partnership with Mosscare St Vincent's Housing and Manchester City Council, the Cosy Home Pilot demonstrates Eco Home Insulation's technical expertise, collaborative approach, and ability to deliver high-quality retrofit solutions that meet the needs of local authorities and housing providers.
The project provides an example of how coordinated, whole-house retrofit measures can improve the performance of traditionally hard-to-treat homes while supporting the future of sustainable housing.
