GRAND Village

The Grand Village is the main highlight of the show, consisting of an array of eco show homes it is everything that Grand Designs stands for; unique architecture, innovation and environmental awareness.

We invite pioneering house builders to the show to erect their modular homes in just three days before we open them up to visitors and allow them to tour within it.

Eco friendlly homes featured at the 2012 London event included:

Eco Floating Home

Eco Floating Homes design and manufacture the very best in modern water dwelling. These floating homes and offices encapsulate contemporary architecture with the very latest innovations in environmentally friendly building solutions and techniques. They can build single storey 1, 2 or 3 bed units up but also much larger 2 storey units with more bedrooms or entertaining space.

Their homes are extremely thermally efficient and cheap to run. Wherever possible they aim to use renewables harnessing solar energy through solar hot water panels as well as photovoltaic panels and photo-galvanic cladding to create electricity from the sun’s rays. They use sedum roofs to assist insulation reducing water run-off, recycle water through filtered systems and can even efficiently and ecologically deal with foul waste water where no shore-side facility exists.

Tetra Shed

As more and more people are choosing to work from home, there has been an increase in the need to have ‘office space’. Some people may have the luxury of converting a room in their house to facilitate this, however, others may not and will look at alternative solutions, such as a garden office/ pod.

For a garden office which breaks the mould, look no further than the Tetra Shed garden office – it is a stylish and contemporary alternative to any currently available on the market.Designed by architecture practice Innovation Imperative, tetra shed is constructed from eco-friendly engineered timber, externally clad with matt black rubber and internally lined with birch faced plywood.

To see how the Tetra Shed modular system works, three sheds will be linked together to showcase a large guest room that visitors will be able to see and explore.
