Each year, Grand Designs Live London holds a competition to find the Grand Designs Live London Garden Designer of the year, to showcase the best of the designs from novice gardeners, that meet a certain brief. The standard of entries is always extremely high, making the selection of only three finalists extremely difficult for our judges!
The brief was to plan, design and build a show garden for the show that encapsulates the word CONTRAST. We asked the designers to express this in whatever way they see fit, this could be with colour, texture, levels, or it could be abstract; for instance the contrast between cultures in Britain.
We asked them to be creative but we also wanted practical gardens that you could imagine on a Grand Designs build. We want our visitors to take inspiration from the designs and aspire to own a garden from the show.
The three best design entries inspired by the Grand Designs ethos are built at the show ready to be judged by our celebrity panel, including Kevin McCloud.
