Accessories can update your home quickly and it’s easy to find a look that suits your budget
The big trends for interior design are thankfully not quite as fast as those for fashion which changes each Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter plus the resort seasons in between. But Lifestyle home accessories do change seasonally and so offer us regular opportunities to add a new look to our homes without the major upheaval that comes with redecorating. Commonly the bigger yearly trends will filter down into the accessories and so give us the option to add some cushions a rug or a lampshade that can update and refresh a room.
At the beginning of 2016 Pantone gave us their colour of the year, which for the first time was actually two colours, Rose Quartz and Serenity. A soft dusty rose pink and a cooler pale light blue which are shown together as a colour pairing.
These colours may have not seemed so attractive to us in January when they first came out but now with summer approaching it is easier to visualise these colours in our homes.
These cotton linen cushions from Dapper & Frill pick up the soft Rose pink and contrast it against a stronger indigo blue.
Other trends have focused on the darker end of the colour spectrum, the look championed by interior designer Abigail Ahern. These pictures from her blog show how beautiful dark walls can look.
Farrow & Ball this year introduced a darker grey which will add depth and drama to any room. Dulux in their 2016 colour forecast have brought together rich dark blues contrasted with brighter highlights.
