Ruach Kitchens client case study – David and Ann, Godstone Budget £18,000
At Ruach Kitchens we are used to finding solutions to create the kitchen of our client’s dreams. It’s important that the kitchen design makes best use of the available space while meeting the client’s needs for how they will use the space.
One of our client’s, David and Ann from Godstone, came to us with a very specific brief: “Make my small dark kitchen into a contemporary space filled with light while ensuring there is somewhere for easy access to my beloved coffee machine.”
Violet our interior designer made a personal visit to their home to run through her ideas in person with him. Below are her top tips for the kitchen.
Tip 1: Use pale colours and natural finishes to create light and space. The wood effect panelling on part of the units brings the outside in to create a beautiful natural look.
Tip 2: Add a point of interest such as a unique splashback. Made from toughened glass, the splashback can be printed with any image and is custom made to measure.
Tip 3: Using a reflective surface to bounce light. It’s amazing how much lighter a kitchen can be made simply by the addition of pale coloured reflective surfaces that bounce the light from the window.
Tip 4: A pop of colour to brighten up the space. Bright orange kitchen accessories added a pop of colour to David’s kitchen.
Tip 5: A matching sink and worktop colour to give the illusion of a larger worktop.
Tip 6: Shelving to fill sloped ceilings or odd shaped walls can be used to maximise the available storage space and open shelving adds to the sense of space.
Tip 7: A glass hob can also double up as an extra surface.
Tip 8: Clever integrated storage solutions such as the pull out larder with a drawer which was used to provide storage for the coffee machine.
Tip 9: Consider a small size dishwasher to free up space in a small kitchen.
Tip 10: To give the illusion of space, keep surfaces clear and streamline any kitchen clutter.
David said “I’m delighted with the overall result, the attention to detail, use of creative solutions and ability to create a bespoke kitchen to our requirements was impressive. Ruach even ensured there was a bespoke cupboard for my coffee machine. We genuinely have the best kitchen we have ever seen or could ever want and it did not break the bank.
